Brother John’s Catholic Books & Gifts, in the Redbud Center, is Lubbock’s locally-owned and operated Catholic store. For decades the store has been supplying Lubbock and the surrounding communities with items that help in developing and celebrating the Catholic faith and other faiths.

Store owners Tom and Diane Botello are constantly searching to bring unique items to the store. As the owners for the past two years, the couple has incorporated new spiritual and fun merchandise like genuine leather wallets and cell phone holsters for men and women to the shop while maintaining the store’s mainstay of hard-to-find religious and inspirational items.

The store has a huge selection of Christian gifts. New shipment of wall crosses, faith jewelry and Roses in My Garden figurines from Willow Tree are in. This collection has been the most requested addition to the Willow Tree line in the last several years. With six new figurines, representing boys and girls of different ages and personalities, you can create your own family grouping along with mother, father, grandfather or grandmother.

The store has a huge selection of Bibles for children, adults and families. To protect your Bible, Brother John’s has a large selection of Bible covers in youthful and more mature styles. Add a name on the cover of the Bible or on the Bible cover with imprinting. This is a great way to personalize an already meaningful gift. Other books can also be imprinted, as well as cards. For Bibles priced at more than $25, the first line of imprinting is free; for Bibles less than $25 or Bibles and books not purchased from Brother John’s, the first line is $8. Any additional lines are $1 each. Ask about bulk pricing. Imprinting takes 24-48 hours, so please come in early if you would like to have your Bible personalized in time for a special occasion.

A new service the store will start offering this week is laser engraving. This will let customers put a special touch on almost any gift item purchased from Brother John’s, including plastic and wooden gifts from P. Graham Dunn. Come in and ask about pricing.

To show customers their gratitude for their continuous business, Brother John’s is having Customer Appreciation Days. Stop by and have a good time with refreshments, discounts on store items, prize drawings and musical entertainment by Jacob Bermea and Greg Goodnight. Call or stop by the store for details.

Look for Brother John’s during Biblefest. They will have a book table set-up at Christ the King Cathedral Church, June 8-12 and at St. John Neuman Catholic Church July 27-31.

Is there a solider that you would like to give a gift to during this time? Brother John’s carries a selection of military and patriotic gifts, such as medals and pendants representing the different branches of the U.S. Military, as well as prayer cards.

Other military and patriotic gifts that can be found at Brother John’s include the Catholic Prayer Book for the Military and Sterling Silver necklaces for different branches of the service.

Only available at Brother John’s are custom made kneelers by Rene Martinez. Designed to fit the person and available in different finishes and fabric, you can design your own kneeler to fit your home.
